TREE PLANTING EVENT AT IBNU-KHALDUM INTEGRATED ACADEMY

The school tree planting activity was held at Ibnu-Khaldum Integrated Programme (IKIP). This is an early childhood development centre. We have selected this school for the event so that little school children are involved in environmental protection activities at a very low age.
Through cooperation and liaising with the school administration, we were able to get a piece of land where we planted trees.
The event target was to plant at least 50 trees in the school garden using indigenous and non-invasive tree species. The species that could do well in this climate is Neem tree “Azaridachta indica”
Trees will be used to promote afforestation in the school community. The group officials have mobilized the members and school children for the event. The documentation of the whole session was captured by out Technical Assistant.
The objectives of the tree planting event were to:
·        To give the students a key role in environmental management
·        Increase trees cover
·        To enlighten the school community on the importance of trees
·        Conservation of bio-diversity
·        To plant trees which will absorb green houses gases
·        The trees were planted to promote afforestation in school
·        To recognize school children and teachers who are doing something on environmental protection and conservation.
·        To make students learn about environmental issues.
